Feature 1

The Toolbox Post:

A choreography program offered to the public, providing education and tangible experience within composition, choreography, creative process, and creative directing. Anyone 14 & up is eligible to apply and to stay tuned for more info on how to apply, deadlines, etc. 

After 19 years, Stacie Flood-Popp moved on from teaching at Nashville School of the Arts.  However during that she developed an intense choreography program that is unparalleled to any other high school choreography Program.  With over 150 students going through the program, and the majority going on to work in the industry, Stacie along with choreography alumnus and colleague Abra Myles are now taking the choreography program public.

The program is divided into 3 courses:

Composition and Choreography:  Over 5 months, a cohort of 10 will learn the basic tools to understand how to create choreography and start finding their own movement signature.
Creative Process: A 5 month continuation of composition and choreography where the cohort puts all the tools into practice.  The cohort is mentored, guided and challenged by the faculty during in studio rehearsals and group discussion. The course ends with a showcase of works created by the cohort. Artistic Director Apprenticeship: A full year apprenticeship where 2-4 students from the previous courses are selected to create an evening length show presenting original works.  Mentored under faculty and professionals in the industry these artists can choose between a concert track or commercial track

Feature 3

Found Movement Group brings unique workshops to your studio.  Company members provides uniquely “Found” classes that are not typically offered in studios.  

Studio directors work with Stacie Flood-Popp to create a workshop directed to enhance their students’ skills.  Two tracks are offered:

1. Composition and Choreography: A small group of 8-10 dancers expand on how to enhance their own movement signature and begin learning choreographic skills (suggested for mature dancers). Classes offered: LMA Theory, Improvisation, Composition, and Choreographic elements.

2. Performance and Technique: Students will train in Modern, Contemporary, Mystic Flow, Circles and Fluidity, Jazz, Movement Meditation, Fall & Recovery, Floor-work, Lyrical, Theatre Improv, Cold Reading for Auditions, Exercising Both Hemispheres of the Brain through Movement and Voice, Embodying Characters within a Script, and Presentation and Public Speaking.

In Studio Options:

  • Single Day Worksop (4-8 hours)

  • Weekend workshops (Friday - Sunday)

  • 3-5 day workshops (average of 6 hours a day)
